I am a Research Scientist at Google Translate. Previously, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the SARDINE lab at the Instituto de Telecomunicações. I earned my Ph.D. from the Computer Science Department at the University of Maryland, College Park, where I was advised by Marine Carpuat.
My research focuses on developing adaptable, controllable, multilingual, and efficient natural language generation models that can incorporate contextual information (either explicitly provided or implied by world knowledge). I have also worked on evaluating existing as well as contributing new automatic and human evaluation methods to assess whether the AI generated text fulfills a desideratum or appropriately handles contextual information.
